Inyenyeri is a for-profit corporation with a social business charter focused on
proving a solution in Rwanda that can be replicated across sub-Saharan Africa.
Inyenyeri uses a fuel-side, or utility company, approach to ensure that even
the poorest Rwandan households have access to clean cooking fuel and high
quality gasifying cook stoves. Inyenyeri’s revenue stream is exclusively
derived from the sale of one product—biomass cooking fuel pellets.
Job
Description:
Inyenyeri seeks a motivated and resourceful professional to build and lead its
finance team in Rwanda, including: (a) establish financial and accounting
systems, policies and processes; (b) manage Inyenyeri’s financial reporting
needs; (c) oversee office administration and ICT systems/personnel. The Finance
and Administration Manager will report to the CEO. The position is based in
Gisenyi, Rwanda.
Qualifications:
- Minimum
five years of work experience in finance in a professional environment; - Bachelor’s
degree (required); advanced degree (preferred); CPA certification
(strongly preferred); - Demonstrated
ability to effectively interact with international sources of funding and
investment; - Broad
range of ICT knowledge, mobile money applications, and Apple computer
familiarity (strongly preferred); - Excellent
computer skills, including usage of the Microsoft Office suite (required); - Strong
finance and communications skills; - Hands-on
medium-to-large business enterprise operations experience (required); - Flexible,
resourceful, patient and diligent, including an enthusiastic willingness
to adapt to the lifestyle and work environment in Gisenyi, Rwanda; - Fluency
in English (conversational and technical required); Kinyarwanda
(desirable)

Duties
- Establish,
publish and direct all financial policies of the company and ensure they
are adhered to; - Design,
implement and maintain up-to-date management accounting and reporting
systems as well as budgetary controls and expenditure procedures; - Financial
Management: prepare financial reports, manage the bank accounts and ensure
that the company is tax compliant; - Ensure
the budgets, cash flow and business plan and subsequent schedules for
financial reporting are prepared in accordance with the company’s needs; - Maintain
regular contact with bankers, legal advisors, auditors, tax consultants,
government departments, sources of funding, and other third parties for
the purpose of effectively managing the company’s needs; - Ensure
the company complies with local regulations and laws; - Ensure
that the office administration tasks are effectively managed. Tasks
include but not restricted to administration, accounts and bookkeeping,
and Information technology.
