Description
This project strives
to equip young people who have lived through great trauma to become healthy,
self-sufficient, and engaged in the rebuilding of their nation. Each year it
sends a cohort of 8-10 international volunteers to spend 12 months living and
working in its youth village, starting in December, 2013. Volunteers are placed
into professional roles and work together with local staff and families to help
vulnerable teenagers. In addition to their volunteer jobs and working
hand-in-hand with families, volunteers tutor English and teach many of the
enrichment programs offered in the youth village.
Volunteers receive
room and board, a monthly stipend, comprehensive medical and evacuation
insurance, and round-trip airfare.
