Founded in 1973, Ipas is a global nongovernmental organization dedicated to
ending preventable deaths and disabilities from unsafe abortion. Through local,
national and global partnerships, Ipas works to ensure that women can obtain
safe, respectful and comprehensive abortion care, including counseling and
contraception to prevent future unintended pregnancies.
We require the services of a HEALTH SYSTEMS ASSOCIATE.
HEALTH SYSTEMS ASSOCIATE
OVERVIEW:
Under supervision of Senior Health Systems (HS) Associate, the successful
candidate will coordinate the implementation of and provide technical support
to program activities in the area of provider training and service delivery
efforts. This is a full-time position based in Kano, Nigeria, and is available
immediately.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical and programmatic support to the HS Unit activities
Plan, prepare and lead a process of facilitative supervision and data
collection at program sites
Coordinate trainings and other program-related events, write and edit
program-related documentation, prepare presentations for national and
international meetings
Oversee the process of developing proposals, agreements and grants for HS-
related activities
Track unit deadlines and coordinate their achievement, prepare and monitor
expense reports and budgets related to the unit activities
Participate in planning meetings and trainings in collaboration with government
and partner organizations
Coordinate reporting and sharing of program results
Develop and support partnerships with the government and private sector
facilities and organizations, with the civil society groups and reproductive
health advocates.
REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree with 2-5 years of relevant work experience or Bachelor’s degree
with 5-8 years of work experience
Must be fluent in both Hausa and English (spoken and written)
Originally from the North and a long-term resident of Kano
Candidates familiar with the Northern parts of Nigeria preferred.
Must be a current resident of Kano and originally from Kano
Strong technical background in reproductive health and demonstrated experience
in health programming
Knowledge of the Nigerian health system and practical experience in service
delivery
Proficiency in MS Office
Well-organized, with ability to track multiple projects and deadlines
Experience in providing administrative support to work teams
Ability to work in a cross-cultural, team-based, global environment
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and regionally up to 35% of
working days per year
A limited amount of international travel required.
