for International and Italian scholarsScholarships are

interdisciplinary approach in one of these fields: art history, literature,

Eligibility:
 –Wishing to
spend a research period in Venice between April 2013 and April 2014
-Scholarships are awarded to PhD and post doctorate students who must not
be over 35 years old on 31 January 2013
-Italian and international scholars wishing to further their studies of Italian
culture specially that of the Veneto–with an interdisciplinary approach in
one of these fields: art history, literature, music, drama, antique books,
Venetian history and comparative cultures and spiritualities.
Scholarship Open for International Students: International and students of Italy can apply for this scholarship.
Scholarship Description: The Vittore Branca International Center for the Study of Italian Culture
offers two different kinds of scholarships to scholars wishing to spend a
research period in Venice between April 2013 and April 2014. Candidates shall
propose a research topic focused on the archives and documents kept in the
Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice. Study of Italian Culture
Scholarships are provided in the field of Italian Culture especially that
of the Veneto –with an interdisciplinary approach in one of the following
fields: art history, literature, music, drama, antique books, Venetian history
and comparative cultures and spiritualities.
Number of award(s): –3 PhD scholarships are offered.
-6 post doctorate scholarships are offered.
What does it cover? –3 scholarships worth 12,500 euros each for PhD students
–6 scholarships worth 6,250 euros each for post doctorate researchers
students
Other Benefits: Facilities and benefits include: The Libraries and Photo Library,
cultural events (courses, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, concerts, etc.),
the Residence, tutors and various other services.
Selection criteria: Candidates considered to be suitable on the grounds of the documents.
How to Apply: Complete
application with the required documents should be sent by registered post or
courier. Applications must arrive with the following enclosed documents:
-degree certificate(s) with marks for individual exams, or an equivalent or
superior qualification;
-a copy of a degree dissertation (for PhD students) or doctorate thesis (for
post doctorate researchers) and copies of any other relevant academic works (NB
the latter can be sent in digital form on CD ROM or DVD);
-curriculum vitae, including knowledge of languages, and authorization to
handle private data according to Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003;
-the research topic and a description (around 1,500 words) of the study program
that the candidate will follow, specifying aims, time scale, and materials
and documents that will be consulted at the Giorgio Cini Foundation;
-three reference letters from professors and scholars who supervise or
have supervised the candidate (NB the letters must be the originals
printed on the headed notepaper of the relevant university or
institution).
Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is 28th February 2013.
Note: All international scholars who win a
scholarship must have or obtain an Italian tax code, condition sine qua non for
the scholarship. Anyone staying in Italy for a long period must regularize
their position with the relevant Immigration Office. The Giorgio Cini
Foundation declines all responsibility for individual visas and stay permits.
