Scholarship Description: The Consortium of Development Studies in Southeast Asia (CDSSEA) is
awarding scholarships to candidates from Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and
Thailand who would like to pursue a Master’s degree in development studies in
Thailand. The scholarship program is administered by CDSSEA, which was
established in 2012 by the three institutions and with the support of the
International Development Research Centre (IDRC), its aim being to build
leadership capacity with regard to development studies in Southeast Asia –
educating those capable of critically analyzing the development conundrum and
understanding the regionalization of the development process, a process which
plays a key role in building and maintaining dynamism in the region. The
programs encourage students to seek out development alternatives based on
social equity, environmental justice and economic and ecological
sustainability, while fostering linkages that help better inform policy making
with respect to development-related issues. As a result, CDSSEA is actively
promoting the creation of a team of highly qualified development studies

across the region.
