Applications for Chevening Scholarships now open

2013/14 Chevening Scholarships and the
Delta/Chevening Environmental scholarships are now open for application. The
deadline for applications is 2 January 2013.

Chevening
Scholarships, the prestigious global scholarship programme of the UK
government, aim to support UK foreign policy priorities by creating lasting
positive relationships with future leaders, influencers and decision makers
around the world.

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office said:
“The Chevening programme provides a unique opportunity for leaders of the
future to build a global network of continuing professional significance. It
enables talented individuals to establish social, cultural, academic or
commercial partnerships with the UK. With 2012 marking the launch of our global
website, www.chevening.org, we expect
this year’s Chevening Scholarships to be more accessible than ever
before.”

Speaking about the scheme in Taiwan, David Campbell, Director of the British
Trade & Cultural Office (BTCO), said:
“It is once again a pleasure to be able to invite applications for the
prestigious Chevening Scholarship Scheme. This is an exciting opportunity for
bright Taiwanese postgraduate students to benefit from the world class
education offered by British universities and colleges. Many of the scheme’s
alumni have progressed to positions of leadership within their chosen field.”

The Chevening scholarships programme in Taiwan began in 1990 and has awarded
220 Taiwanese outstanding young leaders to study in the UK. The Chevening
scheme is aimed to enable future leaders, decision makers and opinion formers
from overseas to become familiar with the UK and British values, and to make
contacts with British institutions and companies which can continue throughout
their careers. Each year awards will be made to candidates wishing to study on
one-year Master’s degree, in any subject and at any of the UK’s leading
universities. Successful applicants will enjoy a scholarship covering course
fees of £6,000.

As well as the main scheme, the BTCO works with the Delta Electronics
Foundation to provide additional joint scholarships targeted at those who plan
to use their skills to further environmental issues here in Taiwan.
