Research Position in Life-cycle-Assessment (LCA) of Waste Management at DTU, Denmark

DTU Environment wishes to employ a Senior Researcher in the area of life-cycle-assessment of waste management. The tasks within the position are among others to develop a second generation LCA-model for waste management, apply the model to important issues in waste management, launch the model to the
international research and consulting community, coordinate projects, and to provide teaching and training.

The position is available from 1 June 2012.

Your primary research areas will be:
• Development of a second generation LCA model for waste management
• Application and assessment of the use of LCA modeling on important waste management issues
• Quality assurance in LCA modeling of waste management

Qualifications
• You have a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc
• You have documented scientific production at associate professor level within the area of LCA-modeling in waste management
• You have in-depth knowledge about waste management, modeling of waste management processes and associated environmental aspects
• You have in-depth knowledge about LCA including issues such as databases, documentation, impact assessment and uncertainty
• You are well-organized, result-oriented and capable of working independently as well as in a research group
• You are experienced in teaching, training and consulting users of waste LCA-models
• You have documented experience in national and international research collaborations

Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to:
• scientific production and research potential at international level
• innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas
• the ability to communicate at all levels
• experience in teaching and education
• the ability to promote and utilize research results
• an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
• the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The position will imply some travelling for international project meetings and conferences.

The DTU Environment is located on DTU campus in Kgs. Lyngby.
