At MFPL, Gustav Ammerer, Alexander Dammermann, Juraj Gregan, Verena Jantsch (deputy speaker), Franz Klein, Josef Loidl and Peter Schlögelhofer will work on the project, in collaboration with Ortrun Mittelsten Scheid and Karel Riha at GMI.
The establishment of the new program was a natural next step for the researchers, who point to the advantages the VBC already offer a state-of-the-art infrastructure, a research cluster in Chromosome Biology and a faculty fully committed to teaching. All that was missing was a dedicated PhD program.
They hope to establish the VBC as a leading center for chromosome biology, and that the higher profile of the center will attract highly-qualified students from around the world.
Just like the other DPs offered at MFPL, the program will include a specialized and structured training program and curriculum, with a unique blend of lectures, seminars and workshops. Personal mentoring will play an important role and the students will also have the chance to travel abroad.
