Job description Management
â- Coordinating and supervising all ICLA activities, including legal, information and gender-based violence case management, internal and external capacity building and advocacy initiatives
â- Ensuring high-quality project and programme implementation in conformity with donor agreements, stipulated goals and objectives
â- Conducting regular budget tracking and reporting
Capacity Building
â- Designing and implementing training plans for individual staff
â- Assisting in capacity building for relevant authorities through training and other joint activities
Advocacy
â- Liaising with appropriate authorities and civil society to resolve problems identified through the legal casework
â- Identifying obstacles to refugee/IDP returns and advocating appropriate local responses
â- Participating in general advocacy work in consultation with PM and Protection and Advocacy Advisor
â- Preparing and presenting position/research paper(s) on a selected area of study related to and based on the ICLA experience and casework
Representation
â- Developing and maintaining working relationship with relevant UN staff
â- Serving as an NRC field representative for donor visits in English language
â- Maintaining positive and supportive relations with local government
Personal qualities:

Qualifications:
â- University degree in law, management, human rights, refugee studies, international relations or other similar degree
â- At least three years of work experience in the legal field, displacement, emergency and/or development context, preferably in international organizations
â- Good working knowledge of international protection principles and their practical implementation
â- Demonstrated experience in project/programme management, including supervision and mentoring of the staff
â- Solid experience in general management, including finance, budget, administration, logistics and human resources â- Solid experience in working with the displaced populations
â- Solid work experience in Afghanistan and/or the region
â- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities as well as with local/national, regional and international organizations and institutions
â- Familiarity with NRC work
We offer:
â- Commencement: April 2012
â- Contract period: 12 months with possible extension
â- Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions, approximately NOK 50600 ,-(€ 6600 ) per month, and free housing of moderate standard.
Please note that tax fees may occur for some countries.
â- Duty station: Maimana, Afghanistan is a non-family duty station. The security situation is changeable which results in limited movement and recreation facilities are minimal. Comfortable shared accommodation is provided.
