The University of Pretoria Research Development Programme, South Africa

CONCEPT
The University of Pretoria Research Development Programme (RDP) is a programme that is used to provide special recognition for new researchers with potential. Financial assistance is granted annually on a competitive basis to promising academic staff members who are at the beginning of their research careers, or who have recently joined the University.


Applicants should take note of the University of Pretoria strategic goals and priorities and endeavour to align their applications with these.

WHO MAY APPLY
a) Permanent, full time members of the university academic staff who hold a doctoral degree (awarded not more than two years ago);
b) Full time staff appointed for a term on a contract basis may also apply if their contract is for a three year period or longer, and the application is well motivated
c) Newly appointed staff members (already in possession of a doctorate), have been a member of staff at the University for less than two years and have not yet achieved an established academic research career
d) Applicants who are considered to be established researchers who have joined the staff at UP less than one year ago and are in need of bridging research funds.

VALUE OF THE GRANT
Applications will be considered in accordance with the budget requested to a maximum amount of R50 000 per annum.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications must be supported and ranked by the Dean/ Faculty Research Committee Chairperson and submitted via their office. Please ensure that you comply with internal faculty submission deadlines which will be prior to the central closing date.

N.B for Faculty of Health Sciences, applications must be submitted via the faculty Research Office, 4-14, HW Snyman Building
