Job Summary

 

Under the general
supervision of the Design and Construction Project Managers in the Facilities
Management Division (FMD) of the Technology and General Services Department
(TGS), this position is responsible for the development of the Fund’s
requirements for architectural and specialty systems and for ensuring their
incorporation into the design of the HQ1 building and for participating in the
successful construction and post-construction close-out of the HQ1 Renewal
Program.
 
Duties and
Responsibilities 

  • Leads the organization of the
    interface between the staff and the design team. Researches and documents tenant
    design and specialty system (i.e. AV/IT) requirements from tenants,
    facilitates the delivery of those requirements from design through
    construction.
  • Develops and reviews the
    architectural and specialty systems design (AV/IT). Ensures that the
    Fund’s requirements are integrated into the design or if their
    requirements are not feasible for any reason the rationale is communicated
    to the appropriate organizational unit.
  • Supports the Design Project
    Manager to coordinate design decision milestones with client operational
    needs resulting in a thoroughly communicated strategy for moving the
    design forward. Solicits, analyzes and provides data for inclusion in
    internal and external communications relating to the design and
    construction. Data include presentations, surveys and survey results
    resulting in tenant feedback.
  • For special use spaces,
    coordinates with the Tenant Manager to ensure requirements are gathered in
    a manner consistent with the schedule of the project; that project
    constraints are provided and properly communicated; and that requirements
    are translated and communicated to the design team for incorporation as
    appropriate.
  • Reviews architectural change
    orders and itemized breakdowns.
  • Monitors adherence to design and
    construction performance and takes appropriate action to provide feedback
    on both positive and negative performance to the Deputy Project Director,
    Technical, and appropriate IMF staff.
  • Supports TGS management and other
    project management staff in any other area related to the HQ1 Renewal
    Program as required.
Candidates should
meet the following criteria:
  • Educational development, typically
    acquired by the completion of a relevant advanced university degree,
    supplemented by a minimum of four years of professional experience in Real
    Estate, Facilities or Design and Construction field, or equivalent; or a
    bachelor’s degree, supplemented by a minimum of ten years of relevant
    professional experience in Real Estate, Facilities or Design and
    Construction field, is required.
  • Experience in facility design,
    construction, and/or project management of large, complex, institutional
    projects.
  • Possess demonstrable project
    management and organizational skills, strong written and speaking skills,
    and experience in projects of a scope similar to that defined above.
  • Familiarity with Building
    information modeling and other construction project management software.
  • Thorough knowledge and
    understanding of local design and building construction/renovation
    processes.
  • Knowledge of local and federal
    building requirements and construction contract techniques, codes, and
    regulations.
  • Ability to work well in a team
    environment with individuals in a multi-cultural environmental.
