We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry or molecular biology. The successful applicant must have a thorough experience with protein purification, including different types of column chromatography, in addition to standard molecular biological skills. Experience with structural biology will be considered an advantage, but is not a formal requirement. The applicant must be fluent in written as well as spoken English. The position is open to all applicants regardless of nationality, and will be financed by a grant from the Lundbeck Foundation.

Scholarship Open for International Students: No

Scholarship Description: The Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen, is recruiting a post doctoral researcher for a 2-year project to work on structural characterization of RNA silencing components. The study will be a joint project between the laboratories of Associate Professor Peter Brodersen at the University of Copenhagen and Associate Professor Ditlev E. Brodersen at the University of Aarhus. Peter Brodersen´s group uses genetic and biochemical approaches to study mechanisms employed by miRNAs to regulate gene expression in the plant Arabidopsis thaliana. Ditlev E. Brodersen´s group specializes on the biochemistry and structural biology of proteins involved in RNA metabolism and function. The goal of the present project is to purify central components of the plant silencing mechanism for structural characterization by X-ray crystallography.
