The Pre-trial Detention (PTD) Program Manager is responsible for effective coordination amongst state and non-state actors to alleviate challenges in the justice system that contribute to prolonged pre-trial detention. The PTD Program Manger will engage with national and international stakeholders supporting and implementing initiatives in this particular area and focus on facilitating the improvement and/or formation of policies and best practices to be used at the level of corrections, magisterial courts and circuit courts.
The second component of the position will be coordinating the specific project activities for reducing prolonged pre-trial detention at Monrovia Central Prison (MCP). The Program Manager will work closely with both Pre-Trial Detention Project partner civil society organizations, the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission and Prison Fellowship Liberia. The PTD Program Manager will be a team leader who enables the project team to efficiently, effectively and consistently produce the broad range of outputs associated with a high performing project.
Qualifications:
• At least two years of international experience managing programs involving rule of law, civil society empowerment or human rights;
• Demonstrated success at facilitating interactions among key stakeholder organizations on policy matters will be highly valued;
• Law degree preferred, but not required;
o Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in Standard English;
o Intimate knowledge of program management tools and procedures;
o Excellent organizational, and capacity building skills.
