Please Watch Out For MTN Fastlink Fraud In Nigeria (Corporate 419)

It is very clear than 419er have taking over almost all the entire sector in Nigeria. 419 is defined as the inability or unwillingness to deliver goods or services of which one has received money for upfront. It is getting very easy and common these days. The most recent dimension is the ones carried out by “corporate bodies” in the name of providing service which at the outset; they are not capable of or unwilling to provide.

It is very easy. Just think of what the poor masses in Nigeria need and are willing to pay upfront, then package something that look like it. Package a persuasive advertisement and go to the hungry Nigerian media houses who are every ready to run any commercial so long as they will make some little money from it. They will pound the public day and night with your fake service until they buy/consult you.

I just returned from the United Kingdom and was in dear need of internet services. A friend of mine who has obviously not used MTN Fastlink but has been bastardized by their persuasive advertisement recommended it for me. Due to the urgency of my need and the trust I had for my friend, I proceeded to their nearest office to purchase a Huawei E156G MTN Fastlink Modem and pay the sum of Eight Thousand Naira upfront as subscription for 5GB for thirty day. From the day I bought the Modem till today which is the 28th day, all I do is call their customer service (which is another good example of system failure designed to carry out their 419 activities. You just have to be patient enough to wait for about an hour on the line to meet with a customer service officer whose job is to provide you with the most evasive answer possible in this world) to complain of service failure daily without get solution. As at today, the twenty-eighth day, I have only used 0.6GB out of the 5GB and I was made to understand that I will lose the unused 4.4GB in two days time. I just wondered how many other Nigerian who has been duped by MTN in this process.

I was so angry and I visited their website in a bit to read their term and conditions I was amazed with what I saw. Please read other customers complain below;

Guarantee for frustration!!!
Just returned from the UK and wanted a reliable internet service, someone recommended MTN fastlink. My first issue was its compatibility with my laptop. I only enjoyed about a week of the 1month subscription I paid for!. I decided to give them a second chance but this time paid for 1 week..its been 4days and I havn’t been able to access the internet except their website!.in 3 days, my subscription would expire… MTN takes money for services they do not render without remorse! If you are not ready to provide RELIABLE internet services, DO NOT allow customers waste their money,,.. PLEASE!

Just check out the effrontery! They are even proud to display their obvious system failure on their website because they know that Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) and Consumer Protection Council (CPC) are “Lame Dogs”.

I felt so bad and decided to take it upon myself to see what I can do. I rushed to the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) website to see how I can report this issue. I was faced with the greatest shock of my life. An organization which was supposed to the consumers’ last hope does not have their e-mail addresses or phone numbers on their website. Just office contact addresses in which the closest to my located is about 100,000 km away from my residence. That was when I told myself WELCOME BACK HOME! You just have to live with the reality ALL MAN FOR HIMSELF! That is why this crime is comfortably committed in Nigeria with impunity because the rabbit has discovered that the supposed hunting dog is lame.

That is why I decided to publish this on this blog for other people to read and beware of the MTN Fastlink 419 going on in Nigeria. However, I am still in need of internet service and I am not going to ask my friend again. Please can anybody tell me which network to use?
