Safilo is the second-largest manufacturer of eyewear products worldwide in terms of turnover and the world leader in the luxury eyewear segment. Safilo designs, manufactures and distributes high-quality prescription frames, sunglasses and sports eyewear under licensing agreements for leading luxury and premium brands as well as under its own brands (Armani, Gucci, Dior, YSL, Max Mara, Safilo, Oxydo, Carrera… and many others) and has more than 8,000 employees worldwide.
Safilo is looking for a Financial Controller responsible for its operations in Singapore and Malaysia. The role is based in Singapore.
FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
REPORTS TO: Operationally to the Managing Director and functionally to the Financial Controller in Hong Kong.
SUBORDINATE: 9 staff in Singapore and functionally 7 staff in Malaysia.
MAIN PURPOSE:
The FC is responsible for the overall performance of the accounting function in Singapore and Malaysia.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the accounting system to meet corporate, local and statutory requirements, ensuring effective, efficient and timely preparation of Singapore and Malaysia reporting.
• Implement and refine where necessary, the system of internal control to ensure integrity of financial results, proper accountability, protection of company assets and ethical standards of the company.
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants and banks on related matters.
• Supply Chain Management, including planning & purchasing, inventory control & management, logistics & warehousing, sales administration and after sales service.
• Work with Sales Managers and Managing Director on issues on contracts, incentives & promotions.
QUALIFICATION:
• Degree in Accountancy or its equivalent.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
• About 10 years’ accounting experience in a commercial operation. Prior audit and/or tax experience will be an asset. Good understanding of the accounting, taxation and regulatory requirements of both Singapore and Malaysia is essential. Knowledge of human resource management, Sun System and commercial law will be advantageous.
