Junior Program Unit Accountant
Job Location: Gatsibo Program Unit
Line Manager: PU Accountant
Job summary
Supporting the PU Accountant in all Program Unit’s financial planning management controlling and timely reporting. The job holder is expected to be accountable for all financial matters at PU while ensuring dissemination of financial information to, orientation of and adherence to financial policies and procedures by all staff at the PU.
Key responsibilities
• Receives all purchase requisition and I POs that come into PU Accountant for review and perform quick checks for completion prior to forwarding to PU accountant for review.
• Prepares payment requisitions and cash disbursement vouchers for all payments done at PU timely and based on complete and accurately coded payment packages.
• Cancels all voided cheques leafs and enter void cheques details into the system.
• Insures appropriate filing is done for all financial records
• Receives all liquidation statement requiring finance review and performs completion check prior to review of PU Accountant
• Prepare cash receipts journal to record all income received correctly and timely.
• Prepares PU’s outstanding advance register for staff and suppliers for PU Accountant review.
• Carry out monthly surprise petty cash counts and submit report to PU accountant
• Perform any other duties as assigned to him by PU Accountant or PUM
Qualification and experience
• University degree in Accounting or Equivalent
• At least 1 year working experience in a Computerized accounts office
• Experience in Finance & accounting is an advantage skills
• Good budgetary and financial skills
• Excellent knowledge of Excel and spreadsheets
• Demonstrates high degree of honesty and Integrity 10.
