Network Engineer

OTN’s vision is for telemedicine to become a mainstream channel for healthcare delivery and education. In other words, conducting visits via telemedicine will become as normal and everyday as traditional face-to-face office visits or in-person professional education sessions. OTN is an independent, not-for-profit organization funded by the Government of Ontario. As a key member of the Engineering and Innovation team, the Network Engineer will provide expertise and guidance in network infrastructure design and deployment. This position will report to the Manager, Engineering and Innovation and will be located in the one of the OTN offices.
Qualifications:
* Advanced degree and/or accreditation in computer engineering, information technology or computer science.
* 3-5 years of progressive experience in information, computer and networking technologies.
* Large enterprise multi end point WAN experience is considered a strong asset.
* Experience with routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF and BGP.
* Experience deploying and managing a Cisco DMVPN network is considered a strong asset.
* Experience with standards framework such as ITIL Foundation and ISO.
* Advanced working knowledge of personal computer software packages, networks, operating systems, relational database design and operation, query tools, reporting tools, decision support tools, remote access technologies and enterprise Cisco based technologies.
* Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic/experience requirements.
* CCNA or higher, MSCE, or similar networking/computing certification.
* Experience in network services which host video conferencing and video streaming technologies.
* Experience in using enterprise test & monitoring utilities such as iPerf, Nagios, Cacti etc.
* Experience using scripting languages such as Perl or Ruby to automate management and monitoring operations.

Responsibilities and Activities:
* Significant partner/vendor interaction which includes technical service problem escalation, troubleshooting and solutions analysis;
* Engage in product/service research and development evaluations to test vendor hardware/software;
* Collaborate with OTN staff, members and project teams to identify and define network infrastructure requirements and design/plan infrastructure deployments;
* Help manage the deployment of network infrastructure within OTN and OTN partners sites, including but not limited to:
o Tandberg and Polycom Video Conferencing endpoints and infrastructure
o QOS configuration
o Firewall management
o Route point testing
o Network stress testing
o DMVPN deployment and management
* Regular monitoring and maintenance of all network related equipment such as Cisco routers and switches, Load balancers, Intrusion protection appliances (Cisco ASA), Firewalls (Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX), Network management system (GroundWork, CiscoWorks), Network and video conferencing DNS Servers, Time Servers, TACACS+;
* Collaborate closely with Regional Technical Support as the key network expert in the delivery and maintenance of quality operational services;
* Provide Incident and Problem resolution in accordance with ITIL v3 standards;
* Work with technical teams to define expansion, growth and opportunity realization strategies;
* Develop tools to proactively monitor network activity and put in place strategies to ensure secure, reliable and responsive service;
* Respond to network related alerts from monitoring services ensuring high service availability;
* Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current telemedicine technology and its limitations;
* Required to undergo a criminal reference check.
