Planet in Focus is looking for an Interim Program Development Manager for a contract. Ideal start date is June 20, 2011 and completes May 31, 2012.

This position is currently a part time position working out of the Planet in Focus office four days per week. We may expand this contract to a full time position depending upon the applicant. Applicants are asked to specify their full time or part time preference on their resume.
The Program Development Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing and maximizing all sources of donations and grants for Planet in Focus.
The successful applicant will have:
• Experience in writing successful grant applications
• Experience working in a non-profit setting
• Experience with a charitable foundation an asset
• Strong financial skills, especially in preparing budgets
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to create effective proposals and applications
• Excellent time management skills; attention to detail; the capacity to prioritize by assessing situations to determine urgency; ability to develop a work schedule, set goals, create / implement action plans and monitor progress towards goals
• Knowledge of environmental and media arts an asset.
• Knowledge of Quickbooks an asset
• Experience with fundraising an asset
Reporting to the Executive Director, and working with many stakeholders including the Director of Programming, the Program Development Manager will develop and implement strategies to maximize Planet in Focus revenues from public and foundation sources, with some consideration given to private sources.
In addition, the successful applicant will:
• ensure that program data is collected for the purposes of program reports and recommendations and that accompanying financial statements are created
• identify and cultivate new prospective donors and funders, and the building of relationships with existing donors and funders
• Work with the Administrative Coordinator to track and reconcile accounts receivable
• Advise the Executive Director on fundraising trends and changes to the grant guidelines and provide a list of fundraising deadlines and deliverables;
• Develop and manage all aspects of the cultivation process for potential donors, including strategic implementation and donor relations.
• Keep accurate and easily accessible records of all work to ensure organizational continuity
• Prepare all letters, proposals, materials and grants with input from Executive Director and other stakeholders
• Assist in Festival and special events as needed. This does include some weekends and evenings from time to time.
