The Ontario Public Interest Research Group — University of Ottawa (OPIRG) is seeking a part-time Resource Centre Coordinator. OPIRG is a bilingual, student-funded and student directed volunteer organization dedicated to research, education and advocacy in the areas of social justice, the environment and health.

Responsibilities:

Resource Centre:
• Managing OPIRG’s Resource Center and cataloguing all incoming material and keeping the database up to date
• Signing out materials, tech equipment and tracking them
• Publicizing RC and OPIRG on and off campus through posters, ads, newsletter, website, etc.
• Assisting resource centre visitors
• Ensuring accessibility of OPIRG resources.

Administrative:
• General reception duties
• Sharing in the preparations for the Annual General Meeting
• Attending occasional Board Meetings
• Assisting the Board as necessary.

Qualifications
• MUST be bilingual (Excellent French and English reading comprehension)
• Solid experience with library or resource centre management
• Knowledge of library management software
• Ability to work under stressful conditions, multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of, and experience with social and environmental justice issues and non-profit organizations.
• Exemplary organizational, administrative and time management skills; strong inter-personal and communications skills.
• Proven ability to be highly motivated, self-directed, flexible and adapt quickly to new and challenging situations.
• Knowledge of University of Ottawa campus and local NGOs, social and environmental organizations and community organizations an asset.
• Familiarity with anti-globalization issues and experience with anti-racism work also an asset.
