The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation has a one year, Research Assistant, internship available and invites applications from qualified candidates by JUNE 27, 2011.

The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation is an independent, charitable organization dedicated to promoting and sustaining Ontario’s Greenbelt. The Foundation’s supports applied research and policy analysis aimed at a protected and restored natural environment, a strong successful rural countryside, a robust agricultural sector, and a pattern of urban settlement that supports the Greenbelt.

SCOPE OF WORK:
The successful candidate will work closely with the Director, Research and Policy, and other Foundation team members to:
• Research, analyze and synthesize information
• Develop terms of reference for research studies
• Review and edit reports
• Compile information on results from grantees’ projects
• Organize roundtable discussions and workshops

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will be a recent university graduate with:
• A solid understanding of land use planning, environmental, agricultural issues, and/or rural economic development issues
• Applied research skills
• Organizational skills
• Negotiation skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer skills, including Excel
• Experience as a team player
• A valid driver’s licence

Salary: $2,000/month
Starting Date: August 8, 2011
