The California Subject Examinations for Teachers® (CSET®) have been developed by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for prospective teachers who choose to or are required to meet specific requirements for certification by taking examinations. The CTC contracted the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson to assist in the development, administration, and scoring of the CSET.
JOB TITLE: CAMP COOK – Community Development Department
Basic Function: Under general supervision orders, prepares and serves food, maintains kitchen equipment and utensils in a sanitary condition; supervises helpers; and does related work as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates a schedule of meals to serve to campers. Food must be healthy and include options’ for campers and staff who have special dietary needs.
Orders supplies and prepares meals.
Cleans and prepares food service areas for use.
Supervise people who serve the meal and cleans up at the end of the meal.
Assists in enforcing rules and regulations of GREAT Camp to maintain discipline and ensure safety.
Assist in leading and promoting recreational activities such as arts, crafts, sports, games, etc.
Accompanies participant groups on program outings and activities.
Assist in managing the daily operations of the camp.
Assist in adapting activities to meet participant needs.
Greet new arrivals to activities, introducing them to other participants, explaining camp rules, and encouraging participation.
Assist in explaining principles, techniques, and safety procedures to participants in recreational activities, and demonstrate use of materials and equipment.
Advises management of participant complaints.
Assists in ensuring a safe program environment; conducts safety checks; and administers first aid according to prescribed procedures.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
SPECIALIZED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of methods of preparing, cooking, and serving foods in large quantities.
Knowledge of the principals of menu planning.
Ability to prepare tasty food in large quantities with minimal of waste.
Ability to plan and organization food preparation to meet fixed schedules.
Ability to lift/unload food and supplies
Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely.
Ability to maintain appropriate inventory of food supplies
Ability to create, interpret written menus and meal plans.
Ability to work well with others at camp.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to maintain personal cleanliness and neatness.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Training and experience cooking for groups of people.
Formal and informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read, write and plan at a level required for successful job performance.
At the option of the agency, persons hired into this class may be required to either possess at entry or obtain within specified time limits designated licenses, certificates or specialized education and training relevant to the area of assignment. Additional requirements may include, but are not limited to:
