The post-holder will be required to lead and manage a dynamic programme team. Programme leadership will need to be responsive to the changing environment in which we work, both externally and internally whilst remaining focused on the objectives for the Malawi programme and the requirements of the PAN pre-requisites, including gender. The post-holder will have the ability to think at a strategic and policy level and to ensure that programmatic strategies and interventions are geared towards leveraging broader policy change. He/she will need the capability to network and promote sharing and learning with programme colleagues in the Africa Division and more broadly across Christian Aid and ICCO.
Candidates must be educated to at least degree level in a development-related discipline and have substantial experience of international development programme management. Experience of managing large back donor contracts, from donors such as EU, DFID and USAID, and of managing complex budgets and financial compliance issues is essential. He/she will demonstrate experience in designing and managing programmes that have leveraged policy change in Malawi. Strong strategic thinking skills and experience of managing a team are also a must.
