UCCCU is therefore seeking applications from dynamic, qualified and motivated individuals to fill the vacancy of a dairy extension officer.
Major Responsibilities
Assisting dairy farmers in production and supply of good quality milk.
Advising farmers on milk handling and supply of good quality milk.
Training of milk assistants from member unions and primary societies on testing and weighing of raw milk at milk collection centers (MCCs).
Advising UCCCU and its members on the new technologies of testing and weighing in dairy industry, including modern systems of milk payments to farmers.
Identifying and disseminating appropriate information on dairy production to UCCCU members
Designing early warning systems for cattle disease out breaks and control in collaboration with local authorities.
Be in position to engage milk buyers and processors on behalf of UCCCU members to agree on quality standards of raw milk supplied.
Providing farmers with technical advice on the use of acaricides, drenches and other drugs.
Facilitating and ensuring delivery of dairy farming and milk production extension services to farmers in the region.
Coordinating the formulation and development of the dairy production action plan and to monitor its effective implementation.
Contributing articles to the annual dairy year magazine on animal breeding and genetics, milk handling, animal diseases etc.
Mobilizing farmers to supply raw milk through cooperatives.
Any other duties that may be assigned by the Project Manager/General Manager.

Job requirement
Qualification and experience
Minimum qualification in Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine or its equivalent with 2-3 years of experience.
Proficiency in computer applications of Microsoft Office 2003 & 7 – (MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS Access. MS PowerPoint), SPSS and Outlook and Lotus Notes for e-mail.
Demonstrate ability to ride a motorcycle and a valid driving license.
Should be 25 – 35 years
