Join the team that is driving the growth of British Columbia’s green economy and leading the development of the carbon market in the province.

Pacific Carbon Trust is a Crown corporation established in 2008 to deliver made-in BC greenhouse gas offsets to help clients meet their carbon reduction goals and to support the growth of BC’s low-carbon economy. Pacific Carbon Trust has already launched two successful rounds of project acquisitions and is on its way to building a world class portfolio of greenhouse gas reduction and sequestration projects.

Our portfolio of investments encompasses the spectrum of greenhouse gas projects, from energy efficiency and low carbon fuel supply to terrestrial carbon sequestration. GHG reduction projects span multiple sectors, including forestry, oil & gas, power, mining, agriculture, waste, transportation, and clean technology.

We are seeking a business development intern who can help PCT take the next steps in its entrepreneurial business model by providing strategic input and analysis into new sectors and technologies to expand PCT’s role in growing the low-carbon economy.

Specific tasks and requirements will include, but are not limited to:

Requirements:
• Sectoral specific research (transportation, buildings, waste, oil and gas related to energy efficiency and fuel switching emission reduction opportunities)
• Analysing calculations used to determine GHG reductions or removal enhancements
• Reviewing offset project documentation
• Financial cost/benefit analysis

And assistance on other activities and projects, as needed.

Working with Pacific Carbon Trust, an intern can expect to take ownership of their work and develop strategies around their deliverables. Consequently, a candidate should have strength in the following areas:
• Quantitative analysis (i.e. strong Excel modelling)
• Market research, synthesis, and secondarily, presentation skills
• Understanding of finance principles, with experience in project financial analysis preferred
• Time management with the ability to prioritize projects
• Strong writing skills

Ideal candidates will be students completing an engineering, economics or business related degree with preference given to those with experience in the energy or environmental sectors. Further consideration will be given to students with an understanding of climate change, offsets and environmental issues.

Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a CV (max 1 page front and back) and cover letter (max 1 page front) by email to: careers@pacificcarbontrust.com .
