Contract – Lead Wilderness Guide
Contract 1: May 06th to August 30th
Contract 2: September 01st to October 30th
Qualifications
– Wilderness First Responder
– ORCKA CT2 (CT3 2010)
– ORCKA MW1 (preferred – can be attained during staff training)
– Map and Compass – Wilderness Navigation (preferred)
– Valid Police Check
– Current Trip Log
– Experience guiding/instructing in a wilderness setting
– General Flora and Fauna Identification Skills
– Class “F” Drivers License (preferred)
This position will be a full-time contract that will include approximately 40% of the total contract duration instructing on-site at our base in Hamilton, and 60% spent off-site on canoe trip in Northern Ontario. While instructing on-site in Hamilton, you will have access to campsites, kitchen and bathroom facilities. Staff accommodation is not included.
Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
– Gear cleaning, organization and maintenance
– Route planning
– Remote wilderness tripping
– Base camp duties and group instruction
– Meal preparation
