Project Coordinator -NORAD Children & Youth Participation Project – 1 position based in Kampala
This is a five year project which to strengthen inclusive mechanisms and processes for children and youth to express their Views to enhance the participation of children and youth in the development process. It seeks build capacity and skills of children and youth in social, media and leadership to strengthen their role in advocacy and awareness raising on their rights

The Project Coordinator position is both technical and managerial and will {effort to the Programme Support Manager. The incumbent and will be responsible for providing leadership in the coordination and overall delivery of the NORAD-funded Children & Youth Participation Project. She/he will lead the project team in planning, implementation, partnership management and reporting of the project while ensuring timely delivery of the project and with highest technical quality according to the objectives and approach in the project document and to the satisfaction of project stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities/key result areas
1. Develop and implement timely and quality quarterly project implementation plans
2. Ensure that all aspects of the project are in compliance with donor requirements
3. Report on project progress as per donor requirements
4. Supervise and appraise project staff to ensure quality delivery of the project
5. Organize regular performance review meetings with key project stakeholders and supervise the work of partner organizations
6. Ensure adequate stakeholder consultation and participation at all project stages
7. Compile and disseminate reports to the project stakeholders in a timely manner
8. Ensure efficient utilization and timely accountability of funds and other resources allocated to the project Including those with implementing partners
9. Organise training and coaching for project staff and partners On children & youth participation
10. Ensure Plan’s Child Protection Policy and Guidelines are adhered to in project implementation
11. Proper maintenance and wide dissemination of all project documentation for proper accountability and learning purposes
12. Participate in operational research related to the project

Job requirement
Essential Competencies
• Bachelors degree (preferred) in Social work. Law, Human
• Rights or its equivalent; A masters degree in a related field will be of added advantage
• At least 5 years experience in coordinating children and youth participation projects with technical expertise in children & youth participation programming in Uganda
• Knowledge of environment and current effective practice on children and youth participation
• Demonstrable abilities in planning, budget and reporting
• Excellent communication skills, both in written English and in face-to-face presentations
• Willingness to travel extensively (50%) within the country
• Computers skills in MS Office and Internet

Personal Attributes:
• Excellent project management and team leadership skills
• Knowledge of media and human rights
• Experience in advocacy and civil society strengthening is preferred.
• Ability to work with people from diverse cultures, ability to lead and motivate people to work in teams
