YMCA Cedar Glen Outdoor Centre is a 263 acre site that has three significant program focuses: summer camp programs (both day and overnight), year round outdoor education programs, and year round leadership training programs.
The Future Leaders Program staff are responsible for the planning and implementation of an engaging two week youth leadership program for participants aged 14 & 15 years.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the emotional and physical safety of twenty leadership campers each session
• Responsible for the creation and scheduling of a successful leadership program including skill building sessions, job shadowing, traditional camp activity periods, and camp leadership opportunities for Future Leaders participants
• Responsible for planning a one night, off site camping experience once during each leadership session
• Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to Future Leaders campers during their session to improve performance, including at least two one on one individual evaluations with each camper during their session
• Complete camper calls to each Future Leadership participant before their arrival on site, discussing the program outline and the camper’s personal goals
• Complete mid session camper calls to all Future Leader families to discuss their child’s progress and experience in the program to date
• Accurately document and report any unusual occurrences to the Counseling Head in a timely manner
• Enthusiastically participate in all programs and activities with Future Leader participants each day
• Support the YMCA Cedar Glen Family Camping program, as required
• Fully participate in all camp trainings and meetings, as required
• Models appropriate behaviours to staff in line with our Mission, Vision and Values; establishes rapport and maintains effective relationship building behaviours with staff and members. Represents the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner.

Qualifications:
• 1 — 2 years previous overnight camp experience in a leadership program
• Current Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
• National Lifeguard Service an Asset
• Experience and sensitivity in dealing with members of different cultural and racial backgrounds, including visible and invisible dimensions of diversity.
