DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • To manage Kidago and Mgolole Mixed farms and ensures optimal return on investment in the short and long term.
• To ensure good governance, including strict observance of Financial Regulations, Staff Regulations and Scheme of Service and preparation of job descriptions for key personnel under your supervision
• Manage all farm operations farm including crop and animal husbandry and health
• To ensure that all farm stores (open and closed) operate as per stores requirement and procedures
• Plan activities on the farm and prepare annual and quarterly budgets for approval by the Board of directors
• Will be responsible for management and control farm expenditure within given time and approved budget
• Generate reasonable profits from the farming business
• Engage and supervise seasonal workers required for various farm operations
• To monitor overall performance of the permanent staff, see that they carry out their duties in a disciplined and responsible manner and that they observe good work place ethics.
• Keep accurate records of all farm assets and ensure their safety and security, including proper maintenance and servicing.
• Efficiently manage all resources on the farm• Institute security measures on the farm to ensure that crops, all types of livestock and other company property are not stolen, destroyed or interfered with in any manner
• Ensure that farm boundaries are intact and are not interfered with in any way
• Prevent the occurrence of uncontrolled grass fires
• To recruit and supervise key technical staff, appraise and identify staff development and training needs.
• To sanction all dismissals within his/her authority limits.
• To establish and maintain working environment which stimulates and encourages maximum efficiency.
• Prepare periodic management reports as may be required by the Board of Directors and the company financiers.
• To carry out any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Board of Directors
