Four cooks and two teachers abducted in Zamfara school by bandits

Zamfara police said on Thursday that Wednesday night an all-female high school was attacked by armed bandits.

But no students were kidnapped, the commissioner of the state police, Celestine Okoye, confirmed by telephone on Thursday morning .

“We confirmed reports of an attack on Moriki’s school, but no students were kidnapped,” said Mr Okoye.

“Four cooks were unfortunately kidnapped from school.”

Moriki is located in the Zurmi Local Government Area, which was one of the northwest bandits ‘ most terrorized areas.

A state government spokesman did not return requests for comments immediately.

Some social media posts reported that the BBC Hausa had kidnapped at least two teachers alongside the cooks. Before breaking into their premises, the bandits reportedly blocked the road leading to the school.

Mr Okoye said details of how girls were prevented from being kidnapped would soon be made public. Police chief said efforts were underway to rescue the victims, urging parents and community members not to be apprehensive about unconfirmed claims to social media.
